All right Scot, I am going to redeem my whimp status for not washing the boat at 11 degrees. Lake isn't frozen yet. SO, I am going to sack up, get in full sno mo gear and take a spin on Sat in what will most likely be a blizzard. Glad I gots me some tire chains for the boat ramp.
At least I will have a base. Should run pretty good with 10 degrees air pumping through that engine. Bet I pick up a mph or two.......
It will be a quick ride, I assure you.......:bonk:

Good man. I ordered the snow for later this season. I like a good base. I did not know that you were going to take a ride. Sorry about that.
I got some quotes from JH lodging today. I got to run to dinner but will review them later and get some feedback from you. They look like pretty nice places.

Alright Mr. Poodle. If I go out on the lake this weekend, you will give Grizz the approval for the release of said sticker? I will take pics and post GPS pics of base run.
Damn, might have to plow the boat ramp.........
Bill, let me know what she qouted, I have many othr resources if it was too expensive, including many other Condo's. Did you talk directly with Natalie?

Are you sure this ride is worth it? If something did happen how would you get back? If it were 30 degrees warmer and no Snow plowing, I would think about it.
You have twins on the way!!!!!!!
I vote stay in the Garage.

Mike, I will be alright. Jet boat is still accessible and a highway goes by the lake. Will have cell phone. I won't go out if it is nasty. Calm, sunny, maybe a little overcast.
Actually, just looked at Sat forecast, a hi of -3. What the hell???

John, don't be a whimp. You were here at 46 degrees and running 70. Add that to the light breeze (50% wind factor) you were basically at 11F. This should be no problem for you...
:D Take care. Say hi to Boo Boo from Deneen and I. :) Merry Christmas.
(Remember, this is the last year in your LIFE that you do not have to painstakingly shop for gifts, and drop hundreds of bucks on your "kids" ). This one is for you two.
Live it up :D

I have to say, that is one good thing about the salt chuck, never freezes, well except WAY north and south........
Nuts to chancy, I would not do it. Grab a  keep warm! Boating in that cold has to many minuses!

Will the engine get hot enough in COLD water? How long will it take to warm it up?
I'm with the guys that say "Stay home".:bonk:
P.S. Is there danger of the water in the block freezing before you could drain it?

Definately a candidate for the Sack of the year award...

You need to include video of you water skiing in order to qualify for the sticker.
It was 81 here yesterday. I was talking to a girl who lives in Minnesota this morning. She said it was MINUS 13 yesterday. She had a rip in the plastic over her windows and said there were icicles inside. She was down here, and flew back on Thanksgiving and said the lake behind her house was already frozen. This morning she thought she saw light on a fishing shanty on the lake. Turns out it was just a truck! That kind of weather is just not fit for human consumption. I asked if she had a penguin for a pet.
It's not even winter for two more days.:shocking:

As far as the temp goes, there's no difference than snowmobiling........
But the engine is a different story.
It could be a really expensive lark.

George, while I have never boated at 10F, I have spent most of my life snowmobiling at 10F or less. I think there will be a huge difference. On a sled you are within a foot of the motor, which is giving off lots of heat, and the cowling is designed to push the air out and over you at speed.
I would think that being in an open cockpit boat will feel a lot colder.

Guys, I duck hunted in the same lake and same water all of November in my 18 ft jet boat.
Kinda a mute point, the weather is not cooperating. Snowing heavily today into tommorrow and freakishly cold. Sun looks cold as well, high of 5. Lake will probably freeze by the time we get a day with a little sun.
Barry, I was worried about the engine freezing also, been there and done that on a SBC 350 once. Cracked a head and the block.
On a plus side, it is snowing like hell. We need it for the skiers, down around 30% right now.

I tried. Went and looked at the boatramp, too much snow, almost 3 ft deep. Lake started freezing yesterday, most of it is now frozen.
I never ceases to amaze me how fast they freeze and unfreeze. Less than 48 hours for both. I have seen ice come off a 20 mile long lake in a day.

How did I know you would want that? Still dark, give it 30 minutes.
