I was wondering where I should look to find a new motor for the hydraulic hatch on my z-22. The boat is an 89. Seems like the electric motor is on it's way out and the pump may be fine. When I use the switch to lift it I always have to have someone help it up. When I put it down with the switch, it does not need help. Is this a common problem in older boats that have this setup and what are my options for repairing it?

Thanks

Maybe the system has AIR in it making it reluctant to go up. Check the fluid reservoir to see if you need to add some fluid. It would seem Gravity is allowing it to go down without effort. Just wondering. John

I did not know there was a fluid reservoir for the pump. All I see are wires coming off an electric motor mounted at the base of the hydraulic. Where would the reservoir typically be mounted for this?

Is it possible that the lift is NOT Hydraulic? Can you see little HOSES leading to the larger (probably the bottom) end of the cylinders? John

Just took a look and there is no lines coming out of it, just electrical wires coming out of the electric motor.

Is the electric motor PART OF the lift cylinder..at the bottom?

BTW: Welcome to the board. John

It is part of the whole unit and is bolted onto the base of the cylinder. Looks like it would come right off if that is my issue. Probably a small gear or something coming of it that works the cylinder.

Good idea, I know it's hard to tell what setup I have but I was hoping someone had a similar boat and problem and would know exactly what I was talking about. I would take pictures, but now I have put the hatch back down and there is nobody here with me to help me lift it back up. Going to have to wait til tomorrow morning and I can snap a few pictures for you guys. Thanks for the welcome and I also like the site alot. Very informative and sounds like there is alot of great people and boats on here.

I actually just went through my pictures and was able to find a picture that might help you. If this doesn't help I can take some close ups tomorrow. Thanks

They sell a great replacement.

That looks like an electric screw type actuator, Motor must be on the fritz. (but I could be wrong)

Thanks alot, I will check that site out. I am in the process of an exterior overhaul on the boat right now. Here is a link to the thread I started earlier about the paint.

Lenco is the one I was thinking of. (http://www.lencomarine.com/hatchlifts.html) There are a couple dealers for both companies here, I am one if you need some help :) :)

Definetely...I will measure the whole cylinder when I get the hatch up again and pm you the dimensions of it. Anything else you would need besides dimensions to get the right one?
