We don't get waves like this at Pensacola Beach...

This surfer can't wear a Speedo, his BALLS wouldn't fit.

That is an awesome video! Can you imagine an unsuccessful ride, with that wave collapsing onto you?

These guys have gotten VERY sophisticated lately. Outside Magazine has had several articles about this topic, and it is fascinating what lengths they go to seek and ride these monsters. Elaborate computer programs to track and predict weather systems and waves, planes at the ready, helicopters and charter boats to deliver the surfers, waverunners, strap in boards, etc.

A sponsor (I forgot who) has offered a million bucks to the first person to ride a 60' wave ( I think that is the height). This has upped the stakes some, but there are others that just do it for the challenge and adventure.

Here is a narrative of "Surfing The Mountain".

I used to surf a lot when I was younger, I don't have a board that will "float" me anymore! My 5'6" Islander won't suport 185lbs!
