Wondering what if anything, I should do about the space created when I removed the zinc under the cavitation plate when I installed the Imco lower?

Should I put a zinc on and if so is there one that will fit this shape or do I need to custom cut something? Or do I just leave it as is? The old one won't work......

I would think that the "hole" there would grab some water and make a difference?

I looks like it could be the beggining of a trick Azz Drive shower. Should be pretty easy to do. the hole goes all the way through right?

That is a hell of an idea, problem is the Imco stainless cav plate has been drilled and the drive shower hose attached, but for a future project it would be a good place for a pick up hose, I think one would still have to come up with a plate to cover the rest of the open area? Not only is there the bolt hole where the zinc was fastened, but there is the area to the front of that which goes up inside the upper housing, not sure of the purpose of that? Just the design I guess..... I am thinking I am somehow going to have to cover this with something, just not sure with what or how......

I would not run without a zinc especially if you do any salt running, aluminum loves to burn. Can you trim the one you removed down to fit?

I think I could do that Phil, I will get the same zinc but buy a new one, the old one is tired, and trace out a cut line to start with.

I agree about the nasty properties of salt water, the one good thing about my boat is somebody installed a Mercathode system despite what some think, I KNOW that the system works great in a salt water application and glad I have it.

The Imco comes with a piece that screws in there and covers that area.
I would not run the boat without it.
