I gather the B-29 uses chainsaw motors.

That's pretty insane. The Glorious Glennis idea was cool in itself. The upsidedown fly by was nuts. Takes a lot of talent to build that stuff, and a bit more to fly it like that.

Very Cool. I was half expecting Glennis to go supersonic....probably did in scale speed.

I just re-read "The Right Stuff" a few months ago for the first time in about 15 years - great book!

Yeager is still the King.

Good thing this guy didn't decide to build Enola Gay w/ a scale A-bomb!

Back in collage I had a buddy who was into RC planes. I went with him a few times and tired to fly his 'trainer'. Not so good.

Some of the guys out there were pretty impressive, though, and that was just a little local club. I've seen video of really crazy stuff from the national level guys. They must just think differently to pull off stunts like that from the ground; I had a hard enough time just reversing my thought process trying to fly straight and level coming at myself.

That is a VERY impressive airplane!

My biggest plane spans 70 inches, and is powered by a 26cc Zenoah engine with electronic ignition. That thing likely has 4 of the 50cc version.

Unfortunately, it's not fast enough for me ;)

I've got hours of helicopter and plane video, maybe some day I'll sort through it and post some of it,.....

I'm a fair pilot, but some of these guys are F'in incredible.

Thanks for posting the video, I always enjoy seeing them.

That is pretty sweet. I've always been amazed at the turbine powered RC things.

Here's a 4 turbine RC commercial jet.

Here's a 1/8 scale jet Miss Budweiser

P.S. Whats with posting media on this site? You get a link and a nice pic, but the files don't seem to play???

Thanks,
I enjoy watching spectacular RC vehicles. I wonder how much time it took him to put that together. I have raced some RC boats that I built as well as bought. They are really a pain to get right in every aspect - not to mention learning to drive them. Here are a couple more videos that I thought were good.

Wow, those things scream. Any idea how fast they actually are at WOT?

The last I heard a couple years ago was that the electric boats had set the new world's record speed at around 125MPH - beating out the nitro burners with the newest generation of both battery and electric motor technology. My guess is that the boats in the videos were approaching 100MPH. Bill

My friend who owns the L-29 jet that we fly is also friends with an ex-F-14 pilot who owns our local Hobby Town. We have built a bunch of R/C jets- I can't fly them, though. The technology (reliability) has gone wayyyy up over the past 6 years and the price has gone down. I remember when we got the first one in- probably the first one in Alabama. We put it in a jet trainer (wasn't a replica of a modern fighter really but was supposed to fly well). Took it out to an outlying Navy practice field that isn't used much by the Navy (there are tons of them here West of Pensacola and this is one that they allow R/C guys to use). It took off and flew the pattern aok a couple times and when it came back around, the servos short-circuited and it came at us (I was standing on top of a truck) and it augured into the pavement around 30' in front of us. It was funny seeing 6 grown men diving under vehicles!

I filmed it. Gotta find that thing. It was great. Carnage everywhere. I think the turbine was about $1500 back then.
