My family had a 1956 Dodge Royal Lancer. Yes, it had a HEMI. Before the 56 Dodge, we had a 1953 DeSoto with a HEMI. Damn, I'm OLD...

The 53 DeSoto Firedome club coupe, had the 276 CDI

The 56 Dodge Royal Lancer had the 303CDI

Chrysler 300's had the largest HEMI's at that time

The 53 DeSoto and 56 Dodge were the only HEMI vehicles ever in my family.

We did get a 1968 Dodge Monaco 9 passenger wagon with the 440 while I was still in High School. Very cool car to take a date to the "Drive in" Movies!!!

I my first "Muscle Car" a 1971 Dodge Charger SE with the 375 Magnum, when I got out of college in 1973. I then bought a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T with the 440 Six Pack in 1975 when "Muscle Cars" got cheap in the first energy crisis.

I wish I still had those Chargers!

Yep, those big wagons would haul the mail. This one also had the rear A/C, a big square box hanging from the roof. It would cool the rear of the car great!

I slung the V-belts off the A/C compressor which in turn took all the belts...1st gear passing gear with the A/C on was hard on belts! My dad was NOT impressed...
