Wow. She looks like mine with all the little (and big) projects done. Good luck with the sale. Just out of curiosity, what's her top speed?

Thanks for the reply....

To answer your question, I really dont know! Never pushed her over 4k and with that I saw maybe 45mph. However with the new MSG 5k module and playing with props and various other "tweeks" this boat could go just north of 60....

Others may disagree but it's my opinion...

Happy Thanksgiving,

KJ

Nice boat, Kirk. R U sure you're ready to let it go?

I agree - you would see about 60 MPH. When did you put the Seastar steering in? How much of a difference did it make?

Happy Thanksgiving.

If I had the cash lying around, I'd buy it. How cool would it be to have "his" and "hers" matching Ski Sporters? ;)

I have to admit I'm baffled why this boat hasn't sold.

It would certainly cost more than the asking price to put together such a nice "older" classic.

Well I do not want to say how great this boat is, as I do not want anyone else to see it, but it really is something. The engine is cleaner than anything I have ever seen. Kirk has figured out all the early donzi issues, and has made a better boat - so with that said, I am working out my finances right now . . . . .

I am in Canada and would like to purchase a used classic Donzi...your 16 looks great..couple of questions: Without trim tabs or tilt how do you adjust the plane of the boat? What would be the cost to add trim/tilt or would you just replace the outdrive with a newer version. I have had several vintage outboard ski boats and can't imagine life without trim/tilt..pls comment...Thanks

Good Morning,

The 16 classic has a "built in" hook in the transom as a result there is no need for trim tabs.

The Volvo 270 has "four" seperate slots or holes that you can slide a pin thru to trim the drive. I prefer the middle slot for all around use....

The boat does have provisions to add power tilt but it was removed by previous owner when he installed hydraulic steering which is a HUGE PLUS.

Honestly I dont miss the tilt....

Hope this helps!

KJ

LLG Just fyi. If you did want tabs there are a lot of used Bennetts around for a few hundred bucks and a day of installation and you would be good to go if you found you wanted them later

And, the hydraulic steering option is an expensive, and most excellent option to have already on the boat. I have a 16 with power trim, and owned an 18 without power trim (Volvo 270 outdrive), and while it is nice, I wouldn't classify it as necessary unless you plan to race the boat.

If I had to choose between power trim (tabs are relatively inexpensive and can be installed in less than a day) and hydraulic steering on a 16, I would go with the hydraulic steering.

This is a nice boat, and I don't believe you could buy a used 16, and then bring it up to this condition for anywhere near what he is asking for this boat.
