Can somebody tell me if the inside transom/gimbal plate for an Alpha drive unit be used for a Bravo set-up? I realize everything outside of the transom has to be Bravo but from what I can see, holes line up and plates are same size? Steering ram and lines appear the same as well?

I have a project and would like to avoid removing the engine to swap out the inside plate. It is a complete Alpha unit which is getting tired and I would like to replace it with a Bravo set-up, which leads me to the second part of my question.... will a Bravo unit with 1:36 gears be a suitable unit for a heavier 21' boat with a 383.............? Thanks for any input.

Plates are not the same and a 1.36 is way to tall for that engine and boat. you will need at least 800 HP to spin a decent prop with it.

Might work in a 16 and 400 horse.
