With the newest James Bond movie coming out, I want to see who everyone thought was the best Bond actor. Use to watch alot of the movies, but not into the new ones as much.

Connery by far the little sly jokes were never delivered so good

Girl: Hi I am Plenty O'toole
Bond: oh named after your father no Doubt

I was a huge Connery fan. I thought Thunderball was his best. BUT, being laid up from my surgery, I watched a Pierce Brosnan marathon on Sat and I actually liked The World is not Enough. His other 3 films were good too, except Tommorrow Never Dies.

Worse Bond to me was Timothy Dalton, his two films were just horrible.

Dalton starred in 2 movies, The Living Daylights and Liscence to Kill. Which one was the original book one? Just curious.

Here is my favorite movies per actor-

Sean Connery- Thunderball
Roger Moore- Live and Let Die
Pierce Brosnan- The World is Not Enough

Dalton was horrible, hated both his movies.
Lazenby was only in one.
Haven't seen any with Craig.

I voted for Connery. I'm a pretty big Bond fan. Lazenby wasn't bad at all, but he was doomed because he was following up Connery. Second place was Brosnan in my book. Roger Moore would have had more staying power, if they would have had the sense to dress him in a simple black tux. Those leisure suits kind of look dated in this day and age. Just a little.

The last, Casino Royale was a horrible movie. It was more like a stupid Texas Hold 'em movie, with a small James Bond side story.

IF you have Comcast On Demand, they've added a bunch of free Bond movies this month. I've been falling to sleep to one for the past few nights.

The first Bond flick I remember seeing in the theater was "You Only Live Twice". It's still my favorite and of course I voted for Connery.

Roger Moore would have had more staying power

I think Moore was better than given credit for, BUT, his "judo chop" use to crack me up. Brosnan and Connery just beat the **** out of people. Moore would judo chop them. Looked silly.

So, Senator, I take it you are fan????

Favorite bond song was either Live and Let Die or View to a Kill. Yeah, yeah, I liked Duran Duran song. :p

I am not surprised whothe Distinguished Gentleman from NY chose as Best Bond. Connery did great with the jokes

For me, it is Daniel Craig...Based on Casino. I have read the book and this Bond is the most true to the Cold Blooded Killer Ian Fleming wrote about....even the "cutout" Chair scene (I still cringe:boggled:) is right out of the book.

Connery & Brosnan were very good, but it seems their Bonds were a bit "Softer"....which is not their fault, its how the movies was made. Moore was VERY British, still he did the movies I saw growing up and I agree is not given enough credit. He had to follow Sir Sean....which is a daunting task for anybody. Lazenby & Dalton never had a chance.

That's an interesting reaction.
Casino Royale was the first book published in about 1950ish. I read it in about 1958 and was smitten. This was the very start of the British Agent genre that grew so large in the '60's and 70's during the cold war.
The recent movie, more than any of the others, more closely followed the original spirit of the novels.
Bond had been a forerunner type of the SAS during WW-II and had been recruited into MI-5. In "Casino", the story plot was exactly like the original except it was moved to current times from about 1948. Maybe you should do yourself a favor and read it.
I've been turned off by the series because Bond had become too reliant on gimmicks and tools rather than brains and brawn.
I like the new guy, Daniel Craig......he's really violent. Don't get in his way. He'll kill you efficiently with his own hands.

yes i am a big fan, when the new movies came out my older brother would always take me, we had all the books this was along time ago mid 60's to late 60's i was a kid like 7-10 years old my brother was like 19 or so in college and my Dad and Mom would get mad they thought the content and the opening scenes were to sexy

the movie theatre would have a double header and have and old bond movie with the new one I can remeber seeing goldfinger and on her majesty's secret service

to me the qunitential bond film is Goldfinger it had the music the women, the ultra bad guy, the take over the world plot , and the super strong henchman, not to mention all the bond gadgets and the bond car after the first few Moore movies they seem to get a little campy

they say imitation is the highest form of flattery, or when one makes a satire of you, well think about it after the success of the early bond films you had the likes of matt helm, our man flint, get smart ,the man from uncle, the saint, i spy,
and of course austin powers

we finally won over my Dad he was a big golfer and loved the golf scene in goldfinger

I have a soft spot for the theme from her majesty's secret service
"we have all the time in the world "was one of my Grandma's favorite songs
it is a meloncoly song sung by Louie Armstrong fitting as that was the only film in which Bond gets married to diana riggs and she
is shot and killed on their wedding day and no she was not a fembot ;)

I think so. But get ready it is unlike any Bond film made. Much darker IMO, and Bond is ICE COLD in this one.

Senator - Goldfinger is my fav older movie as well...its got it all. From Barry's Ms. Galore to "No Mister Bond, I expect you to die"

Of course I gotta send a shout out to Live and Let Die....I mean the LA Bayou boat chase was worth the price of admission.

I agree wit you brutha! I think that this boat chase was better than the one my buddy Barry put on here, minus the hat that wouldnt fly off (watch the video and you understand).

I always liked Moore more than Connery, but Connery was very good. Nothing seemed more ridiculous than when ***** Galore and her girls went into attack formation in those Cessna's, looked like they were going to blow up a hair salon or a boutique:lookaroun:!

It is good.
As I said, it's true to the novel, not the movie genre.
This guy worked for his living.
I'm looking forward to seeing the new one.

I'd agree. The latest take is spinning the movies away from the camp and back toward the books. That's a good thing. I forget what movie it was in, (I think it was a Brosnan flick) but when Bond jumped into and 18 wheeler and pulled a wheelie I decided it was time to put things out to rest.

My vote is for Connery as well.

the "cutout" Chair scene (I still cringe:boggled:)

Oof, I had forgotten that one...can't blame me though. :shocking:

I grew up with Moore but after I saw the Connery movies it's a tough call on which was better. Brosnan is a great actor but since he's done so many other movies, I don't see him as Bond. I don't think Dalton was a bad actor, I think the movies he got stuck with were lacking. The new guy...well the jury is still out. I didn't like Casino Royale as a movie, let alone a Bond film. Less than two weeks to go for him to show his stuff.

Live and Let Die (great boat chase seen, makes me consider a Glastron GT-150)
Moonraker (Dr. Goodhead, was there a Donzi or two in the gondola chase seen???)
Which movie did Connery barrel roll the Mach 1 across the canal? Was that a real stunt or what?

The cut out chair was in the book. I had forgotton about it (50 years since I had read it) but there it was.
Like I said before, no gadgets, just b rains and brawn.

the barrel roll was real and took a ton of engineering it was in the man with the golden gun and was not a mach1 it was AMC car a hornet i think , the stunt was done by the same driver who had the mach1 in diamonds are forever on two wheels durning that chase

back then alot had to due with who sponsered the cars

diamonds are forever ford did all the cars the mach1 the police cars the bad guys cars the van the professor drives

live and let die was gm the pimp cars the taxi's and all the police cars were gm

the man with the golden gun was AMC the hornet and the flying car and the police cars were all AMC cars
