Since many of us botched up Matty's thread  , I'll move my post here... feel free to join in.

Since the Magnum 27 Sport and Cary 32' 6" have already been claimed, I'll go with an oddball...

1957 33' Chris Craft Futura "Black Beauty"... I'm generally not a big fan of CC's closed cruisers, especially post-1955 models, but I have always loved this boat.

Thanks cut... Here's the one I deleted from the other thread earlier:

70' Jarrett Bay, 50 knot top end (about 57 MPH).

Still my personal favorite, but I can't find an exact picture of, is the Ocean Yachts 48 Super Sport with 1200 HP MAN's. Cruising speed is blistering, top end is about the same as the Jarrett Bay. Ocean only built one that I know of. I was in an 800 HP 48 Ocean and that thing was FAST so I couldn't imagine another 400 HP per side. To put that in perspective, base power is in the 600's depending on year and pushes the boat over 30 knots.

haha  okay what about the El Pescador? If I remember correctly it is pretty much a bigger version of the St. Tropez. Bill (olredalert) has one that is STUNNING! All the pictures seem to have been lost during the transition.

When I was in high school (mid '70's) we had a 31 Jersey sport fish docked at the Bass River Marina in New Gretna, NJ. I was introduced the Viking Yachts and to this day I consider them one of the finest pleasure boats every built.

Hanging out at the plant as a teenager I was fortunate enough to be invited to go out on sea trials from time to time. These boats are not only tanks, they are some of the fastest boats in their category.

If anybody remembers a caterpillar marine ad that ran in the lat '70's showing a 40' boat cresting off a 10' wave that was a Viking. The shot was taken in the Barnegat inlet on a day where the coast guard wouldn't run the inlet. The test captain for Viking didn't even hesitate, he trusted the boat that much.

Overall I agree 110% with the caption in this ad. I think the ad is from the late '70's but I'm not sure of the exact date.

I'll have to dig around, but I'll cast a vote for a modern remake from Huckins. Passagemaker had an article on a drop-dead gorgeous 44 Atlantic a month or two ago in fighting lady yellow.

Me want.

I've seen that boat too--it caught my eye maybe a year or two ago--definitely the 44. Maybe in MB&S? (Is there still an MB&S?)

2003 Midnight Lace 52. (Not sure I wouldn't really go for a Krogen 58, but this is much faster. As long as I'm dreaming, I guess I can dream that I can pay for the fuel, I suppose.)

Rumbles are that there will be a 47SS shortly. What amazes me with the 40SS is that there are guys touching 70 with SCed 500s in a boat that has it all. I wouldn't turn down a 37SS either.

Of course, I'm a little partial these days....

Great choice on the Midnight Lace. And, at least compared to other similar length boats, actually pretty good on fuel since it has a favorable length to width ratio. That was one of Fexas' goals with those boats orriginally, and althouth the late model ones got beamier, they were still narrow in comparison to their contemporaries.

On the Krogan front, how about a Krogen Express 52?
(not the best pic, but as good as I could find on short notice)

Cool! I hadn't heard of this yet, somehow.

Since we're on Krogens...the 49 is great but I couldn't pay for the fuel. So...the 42...

Well, it ain't black or white.

In fact, I don't even know if I'd call it pretty.

But lately I've had a day dream of building a Florida Bay coaster; probably a 55' version.

They were originally designed to carry a Jeep and a good size tender above it. This one carries a diesel Golf and a 16' ACB, plus a helicopter on the top (owner is a pilot). I think it's the only one on the west coast.

I'd ditch the chopper and put a nice RIB up there, and maybe a pwc. Then put a Jeep Rubicon on-board, and above it on the cradle maybe an 18 Classic or even a Hornet if I could squeeze it on. Below the Jeep there's a decent size hold - maybe a BMW GS would go in there, but that might just be too much...

Steel hull so you can beach it and off-load the Jeep over the bow on the beach.

I just don't know how long I could survive at 8.5 knots. But if you ever see one of these things tooling along up toward Lake Cumberland with a Donzi on the bow, that'll be me. Just don't hold your breath.

Here's a pretty good story about her:
