Bill Bateman is running it on a black hawk. it is top notch. Remember almost all the helm actuators.are the same. They are good units.

Isn't Mayfair and Marine Machine the same thing?

Actually Bret Mays designed all of their stuff but quit, I won't relay the real story, but won't buy from them because of it.

IMHO the current state of the art in external steering is Zeiger (Everett Marine). They have OEM'd cylinders and mounting plates, the only parts of the system that aren't generic, to many of the "name brands" for years. Brett May is still listed as their SE rep but I'm not sure if he's still in that capacity.

Ha! Reminds me of the first time I installed a thru-hull (for a shower drain) on our Uniflite. We were new to the boat, and Michele was traveling. She called me and asked what I was doing.

Don: 'oh, I'm about to drill a hole in the side of the boat'.
(silence)
Michele: 'you sure about that? Should you need to get somebody to look at it first?'
Don: 'nah, it's all good!'

lol,

or like the time I cut something like 9" ovals for my thru-hull exhaust (side) on the Ragazza  I remember thinking "I should be through by now,.... am I cutting something I shouldn't??"

I should probably add that the boat was floating in the slip at the time, we were living aboard, and had only been living toghether for a few months...

I have no idea why she was nervous.

It is one of the best bang for the bucks you can get. It is a nice and well turned out product. I would get it again
