Does anyone have any documentation to provide me with to show the difference between an automotive head gasket vs. a marine head gasket and why an automotive head gasket (steel) should not be installed on an OMC 5.7 engine? Mine was installed w/an automotive one, filled two cylinders w/water.

Thank you

i just had a pair of Fel-Pro gaskets put on my port motor this summer with no problems so far. They are steel, but have a type of blue material in them as well. Could you have more than just a head gasket problem that you have water in the 2 cylinders:confused:?

Marine head gaskets have stainless steel fire rings, they are marginally more expensive the automotive. Many auto parts houses stock them just ask for them, Felpro's are good and they are a one torque gasket which save you from pulling the valve covers and manifolds to re torque.
