I would like to hear from some of the experienced 22c owners as to what they think the best power for a 22c would be.

Da Taz<--Yeah Jim, I'm coming for ya.

Depends what you want (or plan to do). For a stock power, I love the 496HO. Yes I know they're not good for power upgrades, but if plan on keeping it stock, they're a great motor. The "Guardian" system is worth it's weight in gold. It's saved my motor twice. Once when I lost the belt (and all water pressure) and once when I lost oil due to a punctured oil filter. (Neither problem was Merc related).

496 Hag Ho or a 525Hp (efi) very reliable & a nice fast ride.. ;) Jamie

Bang for the buck. I would think that the 500 EFI would be hard to beat overall. At least for stock power.

I'm thinking an ILMORE 625(Thanks Ted), Todd, wanna race? Oh wait, you only have a HP500 and 244 rubber ducks. I'm coming for you buddy. Trust me, I'm not putting down the 500, I just want a little more.

The Ultimate boat would be if Ted and Mark joined in to make a perfect 22c.

1075 Wes.

OK, lay off the sauce and I will let you drive the new boat. AND if you thought the 18 was great, wait until the 22 is done.

Da Taz>---I think Ted has the fastest 22 so far. I'm going to be close.

I could see that. If you want to go big you could stick a 850+ custom engine in and go for it. Mine would fit just fine in a 22. It thumps well over 850 hp and has a warranty and EFI. I paid WAY less than what an Ilmore costs.

Tune and rig it for a year or two, to get all the bugs worked out, and then call me. I'll start worrying then, okay?

Jim, You are incorrect Sir. It has only been 297 years. :biggrin.: I refuse to buy a 22c with:
1. A small block (don't want to do any transom work)
2. A blown engine, unless the price reflex it
3. Not the color I want

I will get mine. Too many people will need money soon.

Ted...Ilmore....Where do I get more info? Their web site is a little week.

Da Taz<---All for the 22 Top Gun Awards. RTSE are you in?

From what I hear it better to buy parts from KE than engines.

I know a guy that has a ZX 26 with a Young Performance engine that is bumping 100. If he would slap on a 5 blade and go for broke he would be past that now!!

So how about a Young Performance 850???

Who knows how fast it would be in a 22C??

that might sink my boat. What about the 2009 GM LSA motor? 540HP and 467 pounds... price unknown at this time.

I am just waiting on a deal on one of those #6's you mentioned the other day. The 4 blade works like a nice torque converter. I am sure that I need all the help I can get there.

That equation changes when you factor in $$$ and fuel economy.

These guys have been building a turbine powered Superboat Y2K (30') for 5 years now. http://www.turbokart.com/turbineboat2.htm

They had to have the engine compartment firewall extended well forward to fit it in.
