according to all the facts I have gathered over the years

the 16 ski sporter was dropped from production during the Chisholm ownership in 1980 possibly due to a pending large lawsuit involving a couple in a 16 who were decapitated jumping the wake of a barge when they hit the tow cable, the suit mentioned something about having a windshield might have made a difference , around mid 80's is when the windshields started to come on the 18 and 22's

it stayed out of production until OMC ownership brought it back as the "sweet" 16 in the 1990 model year so they produced some in 89 for the 90 model year i would think and far be it from someone throwing one together at the factory as a project or a personal boat

but I will stand on my final answer 0

Jim,

in all of my life plus the last 10 years searching and owning a 16 I know they made them in 1980 but I have not seen one for sale or a pic of one i see the 1990's boats all the time, I have not seen any 16 from the 80's so yes it would be a very unique donzi or it could be one of the following an older boat titled as an 87 or it could be a splash either way I would like to know more about it

not a 16 i/o or o/b or the tub would have had to be re done for the side by side seating, possibly an 18 i/o from 87 with a plugged transom and some west marine seats??

Don't you know it's rude to ask a seller about something he's selling?

Some states will grind numbers in to a boat without any, it is possible that somewhere along the line the original reggi was lost and someone regged it with a dated bill of sale. I had a dealer down here that regged the left overs from the year before as the current year, yes he is out of biz and did have problems but never the less there are several boats wrong regged.

Didn't Cobalt also copy the 16? . . . there's so much about this boat that is not original or correct . . looks like everything was painted over, including the chrome fuel vent . . .

I'd steer a big circle around this:boggled:
