What drive do you have? Slightly different methods for different type drives.

I hate to act stupid (actually, it's not an act) - but it is a MerCruser. Am assuming you want to know if it is an Alpha or Bravo. How do you tell? The unit only says MerCruiser with a number of 6161661 and to the right of that a 1.50R.

I have an '82 Donzi 2+3 with a Chevy 350/260hp.

Thanks!

Air 22 - Went to the site and it is very vague. Wants to know what outdrive I have.

How do I tell, other than it says MerCruiser on back. What is the difference between a Bravo and Alpha? I have been doing my homework on this by searching previous threads, but guess I'd like to know what I have to begin with. Any hints guys?

By the way, boat is a 1982 2+3 w/350/260.

Im pretty sure its an ALPHA w that horsepower pkg but a pic will tell. short of that measure the drive cap width...a BRAVO is approx 4 1/2in wide anything less ie 3in or so its an Alpha...a pic says a 1000 words...or...take it to ur local boat shop and they can visually tell u...good luck:wink:

OK - Here's an attempt at uploading pictures of the engine and outdrive.

Bravo! Muchas Gracias! Now, with that in mind, is there anything special about the Alpha that needs to be done?

As long as I had the camera out, thought I'd take a couple of pictures... '82 with 388 hours.

I've not winterized an ALPHA...someone here has...It shouldn't be much different than the Bravo...for the drive...change the gear-lube grease the joints...if the drive hasnt been pulled..it needs to be and have the gimbal bearing ck'd, alignment ck's and driveshaft greased...take it to an authorized Mercruiser mechanic or someone experienced with mercruiser outdrives and have it serviced..:pimp:
