This is how the dream began for the SE.

C'mon. Somebody needs to step up and take one of these on. Best thing I ever did for the smiles per hour on the 22.

Dwight, if you are serious, you might post an offer to split these up on OSO and Speedwake. Your yellow buddy is being awfully quiet, too....

Real men drive blue....

first off - i'm still looking to buy my first donzi in the near future (if not before this winter sets in then next year)

ok - i'll admit i'm interested in this engine, but i have some newbie questions:
so is a 22c the smallest hull this could fit in? how much of a deal is this actually? any estimates on how much i would have to spend on labor to pull one engine and install this one? I have no experience into the merc racing engine market to know how often they come up for sale and what the average value would be for something like this. i am intrigued however and could be willing to buy an insane engine like this to build a future boat around.

thanks

Josh

It's pretty straight forward in a 22 classic but could fit in smaller Donzi's as well. I can't see why it wouldn't fit in a Minx or an 18 classic. The HP 500 is built on a 502 Big Block, so pretty much anything that can fit a 454 / 502 it should fit.

As far as the HP 500 goes it is a (relative) low compression engine with a big cam and runs on regular unleaded. Most aftermarket 500 HP engines will require premium

Will somebody buy these dang engines so I don't have to keep thinking about them.

Air 22 is stepping up to the plate. I don't want to hear any whining this spring from folks that wish they had a 500EFI.:bonk: These are dang good either right out of the box or a a platform for a sick creation.

I dunno. We need response from someone with a 454 in the 18. I would think that the wider bore would take up a little more room. Anyone?

Air - I would seriously consider the other one of these as a way to get me to 80mph...

I was always thinking 500 or 525 EFI. And here they are...

Will those CMI's work with the Corsa silent choice as well? Looks like it.

Tex has silent choice on his 500 EFI. It has to be done right.

Your boat NEEDS this motor.

I ended up integrating the Corsa divertors into my CMI tails. Corsa did the work in house and they have provided good service on my 500...

Go, go, go....

Take out for bigger power means they were run hard a lot. Lots of full throttle time on these.

You don't know that. I have been upgrading my motors for years but spend most of my time cruising at less than 50% power

You can hook up a scanner and it will tell you exactly how much time has been spent at various power levels. Then you will KNOW.
