I really regret having to put this up for sale but my business requires so much of my time I rarely get out on the water. It's in great shape and ready to go. Check out the attached Word Docs for details. I can send more pictures if interested. $15000

Donzi Weasel, you can't get much redder than this.

This boat is about 15 minutes from my house. I haven't seen it but it is well known to the Lake George crew.

Showed Boo Boo it this morning. She liked it. There is a difference in a Testarossa vs. the white deck w/red stripe. I like it.:biggrin.:

Boo Boo ok'd the red, but maybe she chitcanned the engine upgrades?:kingme:

Just funnin' DW, love the all red look the TR brings to the water.

what happened to the Bravo requirement?

By the time I get it up here and SC it, still will only have 400-450 hp. If I take it easy on the Alpha, it might hold for a while. Then, blow it to pieces and replace with Bravo.

Boo Boo doesn't know about the upgrades.

Boo Boo doesn't know about the upgrades.

I'm kinda doing the same thing - Michele keeps seeing boxes arrive and knows I'm working on the boat, but she doesn't know how much I'm spending. And if/when the blower comes to pass...well.... :kingme:

She wouldn't stop me, she'd just give me dirty looks and mention the unfinished master bath a lot...

Gotta be careful how you play the game - there can be consequences and repercussions!

Here are a few more pics. The cloudy gel coat areas improve once it stays wet for a few hours which I've been told was a good sign. Someone with experience could clear it up. The pics show the old carpet, new one is still wrapped up.

Titan, all Testarossas had the grey interior with red pin striping. Made for only one year, 1988, although production obvioulsy started in 1987.

this is a very nice looking boat, i have not seen it up in lake george since 2002 maybe it made an event prior to that, I would have recalled it as we have a 22 testa ,a minx testa the only one missing is an 18 testa
yes all testa's are all red no stripes no flags or lion and dolphin logo and grey interior but not all red boats with no stripes and grey interior are testa's it seems they made a few all red boats with the grey interior before the testa option came about this boat is a testa
maybe the had a surplus of the grey interiors as the testa's came right on the heels of the LE's which also had grey interior??

if i could just get over the windshield thing, and Marie wants the steering wheel on the correct side

When I bought it I called DONZI MARINE to see if they had sales records or any information on this boat. They told me record keeping wasn't the best back then and couldn't provide much of anything but recommended I call Dick Weaver who is their vintage and classic information source. He noted not many were built and they were 22s. He is aware of one other 18 in Maine.

Matty - I only made one Fall Picnic which would have been in 05, the first summer I owned it. The few times I got out were mostly during the week when the business allows. I've not been able to make the club meets due to business commitments, that's why it's for sale.
Dick Weaver stated it has all the correct options of a Testarosa including year and noted the only place to find "Testarosa" in writing would be on the original bill of sale. I exchanged e-mails with Fishboy hoping to find the selling dealer but ran into a dead end.

i believe it to be a testarosa as well a very nice one, the 05 fall picnic i don't recall it was my first run in with Don's jungle juice, do you have the HIN?? that might shed some light on it
good luck with the sale

Am I correct!!! By the height of the exhaust outlets it appears to have a little higher X then most 18's!

No problem, I know shipping is brutal due to trucking costs. Thanks for looking.

That's it, we need to form a human (truck) chain of Donzi owners from NY to WY. Kind of a 'trucks across America' thing to deliver the boat!

If I still lived in Indiana, I'd volunteer for that leg of the trip. As it is, I'm kinda on the wrong side of Jackson Hole. :frown:

See, I have my own interest here too. There's a better chance I'll get to check it out if it comes out west.

mattyboy
10-02-2008, 09:38 AM
they built around 10 of each
22 minx and 18 so like 30 boats total
if you look on the donzi marine website in the history section you'll see they had a minx testa on display in the reception area

and what happened to the old glory days of a roadtrip??? seems I recall some sunstroked southerners taking a 2200 mile trek in a blizzard to retrieve a boat then trying to sink the same boat , or someone strapping 2 boats to one trailer in a pornographic posistion????

You know Don, that is not a bad idea. Maybe Scot should add a delivery section. People can look for delivery options and if you had a "chain", it would be a great benefit to those looking to move boats.

Would love to make the run, meet some of you, and see the famous Lake George, but my truck gets only 14 mpg and there is NO WAY Boo Boo would let me take her Expedition. I calculate fuel round trip at somewhere around 1700.00-2000.00. Cheapest qoute for delivery was 2,700.00.

Now, if I could get someone to keep it over the winter and trialer it to AOTH next spring, why hell, I am back in.

$2700? That's a pretty good price. I paid more than that to get my 22 brought out from the east coast to CA a couple years ago. I was surprised to see you found it for under $3K.

There's got to be somebody who'd hold that thing until next spring for you! They'd probably even excercise it if you asked. :biggrin.:

:idea:Well........................I've got the space. This TR is 200 miles from me. I'll keep it clean and warm for the winter. My brother and his family just moved to Lexington. Would love to see where they live.:biggrin.: I've never made an event, would like to meet some of the guys I already consider friends. I'm getting married first week of April, I'll be back from the honeymoon by then. Say the word, I'll drag that thing, it's only about 750 miles to Cumberland. No chit John, but you WILL let me ride shotgun once there, since I can't bring mine.:biggrin.:

Seriously....................if ya want it, I'll bring it.

Chappy, if you bring it south to come see the brother in Lexington before the AOTH next spring, we can make some room for it in the storage locker at Cumberland.

And of course Jon, we all know about the formal Donzi exercise program....

You guys kick ass! I can't commit yet, going back into hunting camp for a few days in an hour or so. Be out Saturday, but Don Tamm will be here again Sunday night for more hunting.

ALF, if you have an opportunity to sell it in the next week, please do. When I am done getting Don an elk, I will be able to talk it over with Boo Boo and make sure all the delivery logistics with other members match up. Once again, beautiful boat. I am interested again.

Rich, you and Todd can drive it all weekend! I will just sit shotgun and enjoy the show.

Speaking with Mad Poodle on the phone today. I read him the hull number and he verified it is a Testarossa, non-italian windshield. According to his notes, at least 6-8 18 Testarossa's were produced, this being one of them.

Donziweasel, I'm about 15 minutes from ALF. I don't have storage myself, but the place I use is about $200 for the winter. I could pick it up and put it in storage if that helps.

This is a great thread. Firstly, very cool and rare boat. Second, great to see everyone pitch in to help. I drove 10 hrs each way to get my boat and don't regret it for a minute.

...and on another note - ALF - that cottage in the background of the pics is gorgeous! Absolutely love the stone base with the log upper. Is it for sale as well?? How much for shipping to Toronto?

Not to hyjack this thread but it brought back memories. September 1995: "Mooselook" Lake, ME. Just outside Rangely. My first ride in a Donzi was in a 18' TR. It was Very faded. It was For Sale at $10k asking. The salesman asked if I would like a ride. Of course. He let my wife and I take it out by ourselves. :cool!: Never having driven such a vessel, ...I Scared Us To Death while fooling around with the trim tabs at maybe 50 MPH.

The ride made an impression that didn't go away. We didn't buy that boat for various reasons.. I didn't care for ALL RED. We didn't have anything to tow it with. (Toyota Celica) Donzis are Way Too Scary.

We bought a truck 3 months later (just in case). 8 months later we bought the Minx. John

I've been out of cell service for a few days and away from home so I haven't been able to respond to all the messages concerning this boat, sorry about that. This has been tough posting it for sale after looking so long for one like this and I've made the decision to keep it and make a better attempt to find the time to enjoy it and the great lake I live so close to.
It's really impressive to see the efforts members and other Donzi owners are willing to make for this transport to happen for people they haven't met. It's great !
Sorry for any inconvience but it just doesn't feel right to let it go.

Nothing says how good a boat truly is than an owner who doesn't want to sell it. Hope you get some more time to enjoy it.
