I've got some rust stains in the bilge of my ZX from before I owned it. They're directly under the positive battery cable. It appears that rusty water must have ran off of the block and pooled under the cable. Or someone used to store something there and it got wet.
I've tried West Marine hull cleaner and LimeAway with very little difference. Both have worked before for lighter stains on gel bug not this time. What should else should I try?

I tried LimeAway full strength and let it sit. Usually if I use it to clean the hull I'll mix it 50/50 with water and spray it on.

Good idea. I have used naval jelly to remove rust from a gun barrel that I reblued before. Will it do anything to the gel or just the rust? It's got a pretty good finish on it still and I dont wanna have to buff it afterwards. Buffer and pads are still in VA.

Another good item for rust is Wink rust remover.

I've used FSR from West Marine with good results.
