I was wondering if anyone has taken a 350 mag mpi and put a 383 rotating assembly inside ? would the fuel injection support the extra cubes ?

if you mean can the stock system provide enough fuel. I believe so, because I have procharged a stock 350 mag mpi. THe stock system provides enough pressure and volume with under boost

But If you mean function correctly, with no modifications.... I believe that the ecm will have to be recalibrated to compensate for the extra cubic inches, or plug-in a ecm from a 383 engine

The electronic control module (ecm) is the key. The mpi system is virtually the same between the 5.0, 5.7. 6.2. and 383.

reprogramming the ECM is the problem. Mercruiser has the locked down.

At this time the Feds are talking to Merc about that. When and it is happening they will have to conform to the same things the Auto guys do. Right now the EPA has bigger fish to fry, but it won't be long. Just so you know there are so many ways around the ECM with new programmable stuff coming every day.

all you need to get is a 383 ecm..But the question i have is the mpi a late model or a early model(plastic upper intake plenum or alunimum)

Which is better for this Aluminum or plastic? How do you get your hands on a 383 ecm?
Thanks

Merc offers a 383 drop in motor. My boat doctor thought it'd be a great upgrade to my 305, but Merc recommends a Bravo behind it. With an Alpha, I don't think it's in the cards for me.

Poodle ought to be able to source out a 383 PCM right from Merc.

I ran 400hp through my Alpha for 10 years and never had a problem. Just drove the boat out of the water. Normal running no problem.
