I just got mail from a close friend in the Ohio that at least two gas stations that he know of are setting their pumps to $1.25 before the fuel starts to flow, make sure you look at the meter before pumping, no sense in getting screwed!!!

I was in Columbia, SC today and there were stations at $4.99 / gal and
people were buying it.

Stopped at the truck stop on I-77 and paid $3.96 for diesel. Gas was
at $3.79, up a dime from last week.

For some reason people around here panic.

Reg is now $1.38 litre or $5.52 a gal. Ed

Here in Knoxville... Thursday night/Friday morning @ midnight, I bought gas for $3.59/Gal. By 9am it was $4.99/Gal.

At the same time crude was dropping below $100/barrel! I think it's due to the refineries being down during the storm.

Sorry maybe the initial post was not clear! The $1.25 was posted as the pump was turned on with -0- fuel having gone through the nozzle!!!!

Sounds like a "surcharge" for the convienence of using the pump rather than a ladle and funnel.

In Florida, last week Governor Crist warned businesses that any unjustified rise in prices would be considered as price gouging and delt with under the full penalties of the law in this state against such artificial rises. We have Hurricane Andrew to thank for these laws, and the Governor to thank for reminding businesses it is on the books and will not be tolerated.
