on a bravo 1, its cut into the nose of the drive with an ext hose running up to where the old water p/u was. how can we start the boat up on a hose? can we pull a hose off the sea water pump and put the garden hose in it? its on an am offshore cat and its to high off the ground to put the drive in something

I have a "special set of muffs" on the Alpha SS. It goes over the nose cone perfectly. It is orange in colour. I do not know where it came from. Buizz gave it to me.

J.A.F. Marine Engineering in FLA is the manufacturer.

I got mine at a local Mercruiser service dealer. Any qualified Mercruiser dealer should have it. Mine is also orange with a bungee cord that holds it in place. Much easier than the regular style "ear muffs".

Mine looks like this one below, only in orange. The one in the pic is upside down. Water comes into the flat area via garden hose connection.

Merc does make a 'cap' to block the low water pickup so you can use regular muffs, but every time I've stopped at a dealer, it is never in stock. I should order one because it'd make things easier, but for some reason I never do.

I've been taping off the low water holes and using regular muffs. I've used duct tape, packing tape, electrical tape, masking tape....anything seems to work. Electrical tape works best because it never leaves any glue residue behind.

Yep, what they said....

The only problem I had with mine was being a little loose and water squirting out every where. So I wrapped the bungy cord around the prop, worked great. Just don't put it in drive.:hangum:

Plug the four holes with 2 loops of vacuum hose and use standard muffs. Now I have to get a new set-up for the Imco.

CARL: You're running in fresh water already. No need to Flush. :smash: John

Just T in to the intake of the raw water intake hose. I found it is the best and easiest in the long run and a lot cleaner. All my boats are that way. I gave all my ear muffs away.
