bullish, What horse power (on a dyno) do you have. Or what mods and what blower setup do you have, carb or injected?. What driv do you have and the drive ratio?

The Big Green ZX was a 27 ZX with a 502 and a procharger without much more done to it..... wasn't it? Didn't it go around 70 or so?

Guys.... I think that he has a 96 27 ZX from reading his other post. I think that they only had a non-step in 96. I know that my 1996 25 ZX had a 502 MAG with a 1.50:1 gear ratio Bravo I and it has no steps.

You are right about the 96 deal and the speed of a non-step. It is a great handling boat.

I am pretty sure that you and Tex have special boats. I have yet to see another 25ZX like yours.

We need to know more

First your prop is too big. You will be in the low mid 70s with the right prop. A 26 maybe a 27 if your lucky. That is a big boat, but nice.

You are right on the money on the props and speed.

Try to do it in a 3 blade if you can. That boat has a nice deep X. I spun a 4 blade Bravo I 26" and it was labbed. It had a good cruise but I felt it was not the right prop on top. Spend some time with it doing some testing.

That boat has a damn good ride in rough water and a nice big entry into the cabin. I miss some of the nice features on my 27ZX.

Thanks guys

I had the boat out over the weekend and it ran great, right around 66mph with 6 people. Boat was great out of the hole but it felt like it has way more up top with the right prop, its only hitting 4800 rpm with the 28. If you had to pick one prop to start with what would it be?

Thanks

Something 3 blade with a good bit of cup to get that bow up and maybe 26-27' of pitch like Griz said

Now bullish we better tell you what we need to get things right. I think we overlooked the telling you this. We really need RPMS-given to us, The approx engine and Hp, almost enough given and then the real GPS speed. I am assuming that the tach is correct, so I can tell you this and that you are doing better then I figured. At this point It would seem Like a 27 or even a 26. We know that a 28 bravo is really a 27 in other props. I think a 3 blade will work very well on that hull.

OK I will stick my neck out I think a 26 TXP is a good starting point should get you over the hump with about 4 people and perform better with a full load. Right now if it is a mild 502 with a Vortex your lugging it, which is good and bad. I bet it will be happy at 5,000 and 5,200 and be safe.

Thanks guys

Now where can I get a good deal on a prop? I don't know who long I plan on keeping the boat so I don't want to through a lot of money at it. I might be in the market for something a little bigger 36' or 38' in the near future.

A prop is one of the cheaper things you can do. Big Griz here knows a good bit (probably an understatement). You may want to drop him a line. I would recommend trying the TXP as well.

Mr. Fix and a numer of other guys on the site do props as well. I have had GREAT dealings with all of these guys.

I am a Turbo dealer and product tester for them. I am also a Solas dealer too. The txp is about $400 plus shipping.

You have GOT to try that TXP on that boat. I wish that I had. I always felt that if you could get a good 3 blade to hook up right it would be the way to go. Tex got one to hook up well on his 27ZX step with a Shorty. I know that it is a different story but he said it got his boat way out of of the water. The non step should love that.

Oh I will. I have been working out the odds and ends on the ZX. The little things you need to do after doing a big project. Mostly small details. I am sure that you are familiar with those.

Talking to Tex really got me fired up to try some of your props.
