could use some help

have a 95 16' with a transplanted merc 350, the battery has been placed
quite far up in the bow, very difficult to get to and kinda scary place to be, would it have been put there for weight? can I relocate and where is a ggod place.

On my 95 sweet 16 with the L seating... the battery is in the center of the bench seat compartment.

I can't imagine much of an advance in moving the battery forward, given the weight of a 16 hull. In a lighter boat it would make more sense. The battery in my '77 is located in the compartment under the rear bench, too.
