***Updated: Includes the entire whipple EFI system and dana marine exhaust***

I just relocated to Hawaii and can't take it with me. Motor just blew- and either needs a 454/502 longblock, or just a drop-in repower.

If you don't know my boat from the forum- here it goes: Excellent condition 1988 condition 22 classic.
Has the desirable stainless steel windshield upgraded with tinted lexan plastic.
Upholstery and carpet redone in '03.
Almost new 2006 aluminum trailer with 4 wheel disc brakes, LED lights, stainless hardware and spare tire.
2007 custom sunbrella cover.
$2k Nisonger/Livorsi dash w/ monster gauges, GPS speedo with recall, military toggle switches, circuit breakers
Depth Sounder
1997 Bravo 1 drive with new Imco 2" shorty lower.
1 yr old full hydraulic steering from XS marine- dual ram with hyd helm ($3000).
Stainless marine pop up trim tab and drive indicators ($1000).
Dana marine throttle ($900).
Livorsi steering wheel.
Acron pop-up cleats.
Alpine CD player with ipod control clarion speakers, bazooka marine bass tube.
Engine- is a 1997 454 gen VI roller motor. I put on a EFI whipple kit, closed loop cooling with sea strainer, dana marine exhaust, and high flow oil system and coolers. Lost a piston and it took out the cylinder and head. Has Aeromarine fuel system.
Dual batteries with isolator.
Trim pump was new in 2006.
Bennett trim tab pump replaced in 2007.

The boat was running 86mph on gps with a 4 blade 29p fusion 4 prop (included) at 6psi.

Price is $15k. Will entertain offers.

Boat is located in Springfield, VA zip 22150.

The whipple kit was for a 502, but Mark Boos at Precision marine re-programmed it for the 454. He can change it back if desired.

What a shame it has come to this, I say keep it and deal with it when you come back. I have had a few projects that I wish I had never sold, thought at the time it was the best thing to do but in the end...well you know the rest of the story. Good luck with it, nice boat for sure, and by the way how much minus the motor, blower, closed cooling set up.

Yeah it'll be painful to let go. If I get around $20k for the whole thing- I'll do it. Otherwise I have no problem going with a new long block. It's just the whole job timing of leaving the country (well hawaii is kind of it's own country). At least my parents are cool and keeping it under their awning out back for me.

What would it take to buy complete package today?

Too bad this wasn't up for sale 9 months ago or I would have jumped all over it for $20K.

The only thing that's going to turn a lot of people off is the blown longblock but for the right buyer it's a steal.

What is the bottom dollar for everything today?

zimm17

$20k is bottom dollar. And I'll cry myself to sleep. I don't need the money- boat is paid off and cost me $35 a month for insurance. If I wasn't going out of town tomorrow for the next 3.5 years, I'd be pulling the heads today to what's wrong. Might only need a shortblock if the heads are OK.

I bought boat for $18,500
Trailer was $4,500
All the rest of the goodies were $16,000

Buy it for $20k, spend $3k to 6k on the engine depending on shortblock or longblock, and you have a 86mph+, one of the best classics in the country.

I think it's a killer deal. There's nothing else wrong with the boat- everything works but the engine.

When I get back from Hawaii, I can start building another boat- that's the whole fun anyway.

Zimm,
So how much does it cost to ship a 22 to the islands?

So how much does it cost to ship a 22 to the islands?

It's RoRo, so it shouldn't be too much.

If you really wanted to ship it, I'd try Matson - the run stuff to HI constantly out of Oakland. Not sure who does it from Long Beach, but there's got to be a lot of traffic from there as well.

Heck, I'd bet you could ship it from the west coast to HI for about the same money as you can ship it from the east coast to the west over-land.

I haven't sent anything to HI, but we recently shipped a 28 Albin to Guam, and we've shipped other stuff accross the Pacific before. Off the top of my head I'd say $7500 to HI.

And a classic is WAY outa place in Hawaii. As soon as you leave the bay, you're in the middle of the pacific ocean. The bay is fairly limited for boating area- plus lots of coral reefs to knock the imco lower into or sand bars to stuff the cooling system with. I'm bringing out my 13' inflatable, 20HP outboard, and a "trailer-in-a-box" from west marine that went with my household goods move- I'll assemble it when I get there. That way I can leave the boat assembled on the trailer and will use it a lot more often. And I'll get top dollar for the setup when I leave the islands.

Update:

She's back on the selling block. I tore down the engine and the block and heads are done. I'm leaving the short block in place with all accessories attached. Freshwater cooling system is still good along with the sea strainer. I'm also leaving the high flow EFI fuel system in place (Aeromotive 1000 pump, filter, return line to tank) so you can upgrade to EFI. Needs a new long block, intake and exhaust of your choice, and it'll be good as new. Or just drop in the motor of your choice.

I'll let it go with blower and exhaust for $15,000.

Considering that there is $12k just in hardware added in the last 3 years (counting the trailer), that's a pretty good deal.

Boat is in Springfield, VA near Washington D.C. if anyone wants to see it.

Includes the $600 sunbrella cover, 29p fusion 4 prop.

Well I've had a few "tire kickers". Been researching replacement boats that are more "family oriented" and after a long discussion with my wife- came to the conclusion that if the boat goes, she'll never OK a $50k ++ replacement boat. So it's off the market and I'm keeping the thing. Soooo, I'll be around for a while longer.

With what you had done to the boat, you were practically giving it away. I think that's a wise decision to keep it.

I thought you had 3 full price offers plus my offer. Sounds like you just don't want to sell deep down, which is understandable. I would pull the add though so as not to waste either persons time.

Had three people saying they would buy it. Haven't seen a deposit or anything more than a two line email. One buyer is coming to look at it on the 7th of March (found out last night he had bought airlines tickets to see it). No deposit received. If he doesn't buy it, it's off the market.

An open forum is hardly to the place for that comment. Anyway's, neither of you guys have offered a deposit, or promise of a buy. Just saying "Yes, I'd like to buy it" doesn't make it yours.

Nope, still have the boat safe and sound at my parent's house under cover. None of the prior offers came though. PM sent with contact info. I'm thinking about extending in Hawaii for a second tour so no hurry on selling it or me putting a new long block in it.

Just for the record, a Gen VI 454 magnum long bock ($5400 mail order) will bolt right, everything I have will bolt right on- and you'll have a totally pimped out 86mph boat. Put a 502 in there and you'll break 90, although you'll be re-tuning the ECU (which isn't hard with a wideband O2 sensor). The exhaust is already threaded for the sensor.

Nice. You got a smoking deal on that boat. I never personally saw it but I followed all the work he did on it. If I could have got something even remotely close to what I paid for mine, I would have dumped it and bought this boat for sure. And I 100% mean that.

Hope you enjoy it........as I'm sure you will.
