18 classic steering adjustment behind dash?

Wondering if there are any adjustments possible in the box behind the dash where the steering wheel connects with the steering cable.
My 1988 has about 3 inches of play at the wheel. I checked it out thoroughly today and found no play or slack at the hydraulic arms at the back on the inside of the transom, only in the wheel.
So before I start tearing things apart behind the dash I thought I would ask for some expert advice. I have searched for a schematic diagram of the steering box mechanism but have not found any.

Maybe a Morse Big T helm and a new cable.

I am pretty sure that between Tex and I there is a cable helm assembly around. I think that I have one from the 26ZX. It is yours if you want it.

Let me open up that steering wheel to cable assembly tomorrow and see what it looks like. Thank you.
