I have a spare alpha 1 gen 1 that I have not used since switching to the SS. I had the local merc dealer change the u-joints, yokes and water pump before putting it to sleep. Let me know if you interested or you could check out SEI.

I put an SEI on my Minx when the original blew. I was perfectly satisfied w/it. They now come w/an unconditional three year warranty. Hard to beat.
BTW, are you on my Minx list?
If not, list your info and I'll add it.

I was in your same situation last year (almost to the day). Here's how I solved it:

Find out from Rootsy how to get a Gen II ti fit your setup, an SEI Gen II would be a nice upgrade and affordable.
