Just had my alternator crap out yesterday. After doing some research I ordered a new one from db this morning before I read this thread. Looks like I made a good choice. On a side note I upgraded from my standard 55 amp to a 65. Does anyone know if I will need to change the guage of my wires?

One thing to remember is to make absolutely sure it is marine, there are very important differences that will keep you from BLOWING your boat up!

Good point Phil! They do have a complete marine line-up. This is the one I got:

I usually just take mine to a starter shop and have them rebuilt. Usually ready the next day. Brushes and bearings are cheap.

I do as well but the last time mine needed quite a bit of work and it was going to be $60 and a part was on backorder. So, for $10 more I got a new one and it was 40 more amps. :D

Yeah i got the 105 amp to replace my 65 amp one and it was cheaper than the 65 amp one go figure . figured the extra amps wouldnt hurt since i have a 600 watt sound system.
