Just found out someone got hurt pretty bad testing a prop in 1000 Islands. I don't know if its a site member or not. I heard broken ribs, face, and vertabrea? Everyone say's it was a different size classic. Apparently the boat got squirrlley and maybe he panicked and trimmed down and hooked hard. The boat didn't capsize but must have stopped dead. If anyone knows this guy or has more info let me know.

Hope he will be alright! We have several members up that way, I will call a couple to see what I can find out.

Perhaps Rick at Aqua-Mania would know who.

The St. Lawrence can be a tough place to test.

I knew it was not you as I just got the big mail from you, there are a ton of Donzi's up there. Maybe we will hear more soon!

Nothing from our part of the Islands.

MOP, unless he was critically injured or the boat went over, probably not going to be in the news. Not exciting enough, the news needs more carnage. Hope he is alright.

I thought Glashole had plans to run with him soon.

I Haven't been back up to the 1000 islands but my father says he is a car dealer from Binghamton NY. Took the prop of his sons cat and put it on his Donzi. Still don't know if it was a 16, 18, or 22.

Could it be the guy with the blown 500EFI-SE? I know he's a car dealer in the NE.

RickSE, if my memory serves me correctly, the dealer principal you are talking about last name is DeNooyer and he is from the Albany side of New York.

I broke a steering cable at WOT a couple years ago in the Nova. All I remember is going along , then being sideways and water flying everywhere. The Nova leaned real hard and I ended up with a couple sore ribs from hitting the bolster but I know if I was driving a Donzi of the same length it would been barrel roll.
No fun. Here is hoping the guy is alright.

OK, I'll bite:

How do you KNOW the Donzi would have barrel rolled???

Maybe not rolled but at least flipped. The Nova is so damn wide for a 19' boat and when it happened it was right on the edge but came back down. A "thinner" (lack of a better term) boat IMHO would have had to go over.

In my early days in the 1960s The bolt came out of the helmet of the 250 drive on our 16 at about 50mph. The boat spun and sent me out of the drivers seat and I unsnapped all the seat cushions but the boat did not flip! I was with a girl friend we both ended in the left corner, her on my lap. All good except that her Dad was sitting on the dock watching it. We drove back to the dock with her driving and me laying on the stern deck with a screw driver in the hole that had been occupied by the bolt. The problem was he went out the following Monday and bough a 28 foot Donzi at Sigler's marine and from that day for the rest of the summer she drove me around and I didn't drive for the rest of the summer.

A steering cable snapped in our 270 drive years ago in the 67 barrel back at about 55 MPH, she didn't roll either.....

And I was with a friend of mine in his 21 skater with a Merc 2.5 EFI when the three steering bolts in the midsection snapped off at about 60-70ish, we got up on the port and came back down.....damn close, but not a roll!
