Theres been a lot of posts about props lately. I have an '86 Minx with a stock 260 SBC with a 21" Cleaver. It ran 61 GPS until I whacked it late last season. I picked up a 23" Cleaver and it ran 57 GPS. Now I have a Brand New Merc Alpha I (1:47).

The old water pump probably needed replacement....and besides, the skeg was 2" shorter. Drive was 1:5. Havn't tried the new drive yet. It will get the 23" Cleaver for starters.

SO: Am I ....Way Yesterday... running with the Cleaver. Any ideas what I should try? :smash: John

John, 21 X 15 Hydromotive Q IV, with a rubber hub of course. Best prop I ever ran on the Minx.
NEVER blew out, Outstanding out of the hole. It does very well on that boat. Bought mine used on eBay.
Turbo ran well also.

George I disagree the change in ratio and the lesser HP a 4 blade 19 or back a 3 blade 21, just dump the cleaver. I have a 22 with about 100HP more then your Minx, I went from a 23" 3 blade cleaver to a 23 Turbo Ultima 4 blade and gained about 3 MPH topping out a 65.5. I absolutely hated the cleaver it made th boat do some very weird twitches when trimming at speed.

I am going with MOP on this one as for size but 4 vs 3 blade need to be determined.
