Internet Speed Question

I just got an offer from "Cavalier" to switch my phone and internet service. The price is quite a bit lower. However, I don't understand the "download/upload speed" specs. My present rate is 6/1 Mbps and Cavalier's rate is 8/2 Mbps. Which is faster? Has anyone here had any experience with Cavalier?

6/1 = 6 Mbps download and 1 Mbps Upload
8/2 = 8 down and 2 up.

Unless your downloading massive amounts of data like whole DVD movies from the internet on a daily basis. I would say your speeds are a bit excessive.

I run 1.2Mbps download and 768Kbps upload and it doesn't bother me a bit.

Our entire office of 40+ people share a 1.2Mbps connection...

Thanks. I don't want to degrade my service level but I am paying AT&T too much. I pay $65 for phone service I never use (I only use my landline for faxes) and I pay $30 per month for DSL. That's $95 per month:doh:. I just got this offer from Cavalier. Thing is I've never heard of Cavalier.
