Only if by "good supplier" you don't mean competitively priced... :smash: But they do have just about everything you could need.

Besides Doug Russell, I had these 4 guys also in my KC parts list.

And last but not least, your dealer can order parts from the horse. BRP bought out the old OMC/Johnson/Evinrude line. This is kinda criptic to use but it does work well.

Last fall I went up to Doug Russell....I'm an hour and a half away so I drove up there.

I had whacked my old (1986) Alpha I and was interested in a NEW Mercruiser Alpha I. I took my OLD Alpha I with me because they were taking trades and indicated they were very generous. They looked at my old drive and offered me $100. .....OR...If I wasn't satisfied with that offer, they would take my OLD Drive and disassemble it, and maybe offer me more, depending on the internal condition...As they saw it.

Their Alpha I NEW cost to me was reasonable enough..but their "Attitude" was NOT.

I went elsewhere. I have NEW Mercruiser Drive.

My old whacked drive had 15 hours on it AFTER the "whack" and the drive oil was still "Clean and Green". (No Leaks to date) The prop shaft had a .125 runout at the tip. This may have been there all along..I don't know. The skeg became 2 inches shorter than original. Just my two cents. John

So what's the real story with the King Cobra. I've heard it was hard to find parts if it broke but after reading this it looks like there are suppliers out there. Is it just a myth?

Thank you all for the info. I have a 1991 18 classic w/383 chevy stroker and king cobra drive. I have ordered 2 transom kits from different suppliers on the net. Both have sent kits for standard cobra and tell me they fit all cobras. Money is not an issue, I just want to get on the water.

I think there are plenty of OMC parts out there
