I was futzing around and looking at getting a vanity plate for the tow vehicle. I could not believe what was available. I just got it this morning and put it on right away.

The friend that I bought my 1971 18' 2+3 from back in 1973 has had DONZI1 Texas plates from way back until at least about 2 years ago when I last saw him. He is from Richardson, Texas. You got lucky that someone gave it up! I had a heck of a time getting a Texas Cobra plate. I finally settled on this. Bill

Awesome. You're lucky you didn't have to settle for Donzy or Donzee etc. Is it a real plate for the rear? The ones I've seen up here said "Texas Truck".

I anonymously agree with the distinguished gentleman from Florida.

Con grats on the plate. I am staying out of the truck banter I have an Expedition and it is fine for me, especially since it is only used to go to rallys.

today I figured the fuel burn for my SE America tour and the Mega Cab got 18.46 MPG average....and I can put a queen sized Materess in the backseat....while still carrying 3 120 qt coolers and a bag full of charcoal grill, tools, etc., etc.....I got your Capt. Hyundai right here Humbabay

Wait a minute - you're telling me you got nearly 18.5 mpg in a dually mega-cab loaded with gear AND towing ??? Or was that just the truck and no trailer?:eek!:

My hemi Ram quad-cab can barely manage that empty. Even breath on the loud pedal and it drops to 15. Put the 22 behind it, and tow at a 'resonable' speed, say 70-75 mph, and you're looking at more like 10.

Don, the be clear...that was sans boat. Just me, and gear, but the bed was laoded pretty full of coolers (food, beer, etc) for a two week trip....no where near the truck capacity, but not really just empty either.

A few things I did. kept my foot out of it....well mostly. Generally I was cruising at 2K RPM, around 67-68 MPHwith cruise control on.

on The last fill up in Beaumont (About 120 miles from home). I let the hammer down a bit 80-85 MPH for that stretch which put me at about 16MPH for that part....I did not calculated that last fill up or those miles in teh 18.46 Avg.

Generally, pulling the boat I get about 13-15 MPG, and it is a 6 speed as well, so that helps a little. Of course Dually and 4X4 don't help.

OK, just wanted to make sure I didn't need to run out and buy a new truck before heading on a 12-hour tow down to Powell next month.
