Windshield Gasket

So, I finally found a source for what I think is the correct windshield gasket for my 22 C with the chrome frame windshield. Does anyone have any tips or secrets which might turn this into a 30 minute job rather than 3 hour job? For instance, should I just wet it down with water, soak it in mild detergent, etc., etc.
Any help would be appreciated. I want to get it fixed before the Dust Off.

Yeah well, it took 3 hours but atleast it's done.
