Decent article in our local paper-

I do disagree with projected cfs levels by Pruzan. Those of us who were here in 1997 know better than to think it will only hit 19,000 and some change. I spoke to Dave Hansen the other day. He was the first commercial outfitter (started in the early 70's) on the Snake and named some of the rapids, including Big Kahuna. He is saying 30,000+, but not going out on a limb and saying how much higher than 30,000.

Been hovering around 5,500 for three days now. Snow and rain.

Big Water!

The speed of the temp change should effect it some. It seems to have cooled off and the meltdown has slowed. I would think that someone like yourself that has seen it many times will know.

Boaters in the SE can watch precip gauges and rates of change on the USGS streamflow gauges and get a pretty good idea of what is running. Over here it is also effected by leaves on trees (the whole summer vs winter) thing. We have creeks that will rage in the winter on an inch of rain but will only surge for a while on a 2" summer deluge. We have actually created a matrix that interpolates river flow and rain.

I would expect that you folks out west have a similar grasp on the flow and potential flow.

The runoff has not started yet at all. The mountains are still covered in snow and it has been cold and rainy for the last week. Next week supposed to be in the 70's and sunny all week. The beast is sleeping right now, but will probably wake up next week-
