Hey Guys,
I have a 1966 Sweet 16 with the original Eaton on it. Do any of you out there with an Eaton still attached recall whether these boats came out of the factory with a counter rotation prop on them? I have 2 props, the original 2 blade brass one and a random volvo looking aluminum with a chunk out of it...Thanks

There is not much of anything Eaton kicking around, keep an eye on Ebay and Craige list. The Eatons had a bad habit of cooking the upper gear case, if you intend to keep it and run it put a drive shower on it. Got to keep the top end COOL!

Hey Mark, good to hear from you.
Here are pics of mine. It has been pretty much impossible to find props.

I bought a 3 blade on ebay that might fit (I haven't tried it) but the pitch is waayyyy off I can tell by looking at it... you have to remember many Eatons were used as drives on houseboats so there are a lot of low-pitched props out there.

I think that a small block ford pushing a 16ft boat at 55mph with these things was a rare scenario in 1965, so there aren't many correct props around. What do you mean by counter-rotation? If you mean left-hand rotation, yes you are correct. Had to do with compatibility with Volvo drives I believe. There's a good story by Brownie in HotBoat Magazine about these drives
How is the restoration coming?

Hey John,
It is going...I actually have 2 props for the boat but one was all chewed up so I decided to get both reconditioned. I have what I believe to be the original prop which is a solid brass two blade 23 pitch. I have never run the boat with it though. I am definitely going to try it out this year though. The guys at the prop shop were laughing at it when I dropped it off...
