I'm upgrading my Merc 3000 throttle to a Livorsi side mount unit. I need to replace the stock kill switch and after reading some threads realize there are several types of these. Do I need to use the same wire feeds that were hooked to the stock merc unit or can i jump off the back off the ignition after installing the throttle?

Is one type of switch any safer or better than the others (open, closed, alarm and/or coil wiring versus none). Does anyone know the kill switch setup on a stock merc 3000 classic throttle? Should I go with the same or does it really matter?

Thanks!

Not a stupid question. I was kind of expecting about 5 answers by now.
