Any recommended procedure to clean dock lines? I've vaguely remember that you want to wash them in water only... no detergents. Is that right?

If only you guys believed in water softeners (preferably Kinetico), you wouldn't be asking this question.:)
Just dump them in the washing machine, just a little detergent (less than a tablespoon) and wash. They'll look brand new.

That's what I do then hang to dry.
I put them in the washing machine with water softener.

If you put them in the washer, use a laundry bag or pillow case or something, especially if you're doing a bunch. Depending on what's wrong with them, you can use Woolite or something like that. You could just swish 'em around in a 5 gallon bucket with some soap, perhaps something like Dawn with bleach alternative if you need to get stains out.
