Saw this in the Bahamas. Neat looking little boat. Not sure what it is, but it had not moved in a while.

I can track him down pretty easily. What year were they produced? Had a 150 Evinrude on the back. Would probably move pretty good. Looked like a nice resto project.

that's a 90..
V4 looper's were great engines, people still seek them out today, in fact several peep's on S&F are actively looking for them all the time..

who cares..
even with the Doel Fin it's cool
your talking six pack weight here, the barnacles weigh more than that
maybe that's why it needs the Doel Fin :propeller:

It was a small little bugger, I bet it wasn't an inch over 15ft. What would she do with a 90 Yamaha? 55+?

"If you value your kidneys you won't run it in rough"
Yup,... I agree,
Reminds me of 2 things,.....
A trip to the keys, when we were caught off shore in Key Largo in a 13' Orlando Clipper with a storm moving in,..... Couldn't walk for a couple days after that mad dash - but made it safe
2nd, the Angel Aid run in 2004(?) MAN was that brutal, the 21' Ragazza took a beating, many folks didn't finish the run, many boats broke,..... but all the Donzi's made it back in one piece.
Ahh, the kidneys,... gotta love 'em

What would she run with a modern 150 or even a 175? 65+?

Depends upon how hydrodynamic the deck is :eek!::eek!:
I have had three Whalers in my day(s) BUT, the one I never had, and wanted to have, and have NEVER seen personally, was the 17' "Newport".
Basically a sit down version of the Montauk with some canvas and stuff. Very cool looking boats.
The looper looks like a 1988. I had a 120 looper on my fishboat, when I bought it new. It was always a dog. I repowered to a 175.
I'm sure that boat has a maximum HP rating, and you'd have a hard time getting anyone to rig one with more HP than it's rated for.

It was in the Bahamas, so I doubt they care too much about hp ratings. The 150 that was on it seemed to fit nice and looked good.
Saw a video of one on You Tube doing 65. Looked pretty smooth and fun as hell to drive.
