-------This appears to be a 280/TRS set-up and if so is SO worth the money. That boat would make anyone wanting an 18 happy. It really doesnt look that much like it needs re-gelling. A competent color-sanding would do wonders. It could have some soft spots but hey its at $4000 now. Someone here should end up with this pretty clean appearing DONZI.........Bill S

It looked to me like it was badged a " 260 " instead of 280. Was there such a drive?

------Opening up my eyes might help a bit. I thought the drive looked a bit puny but missed the six altogether. Thanks for spotting my gaff early on, Cutwater. Still a pretty fair deal.........Bill S

I was squinting, myself! So, what is the deal with the 260's? Do they use a transmission or internal reduction? What kind of power can they handle and is it still easy to find parts?

Wonder if it an auction boat from the flood zone, notice it is from Missisippi.

The 260 is basically an Alpha drive but internally a little weaker. No transmission, just dog clutches like the Alpha.
The 260 designation refers to the HP rating of the engine...a 350 Chevy 4bbl. Rochester carb.
Don't know if '260' specific parts are available but an Alpha bolts right on.

Sure looks like an Alpha on the back of that 18 to me.

There's rust on the outside of the exhaust manifolds, and it looks like some rusty water has been sitting in the bilge... Makes you wonder.

------I wouldnt worry about the exhaust manifolds. The first thing to be removed off this boat would be those logs. They weigh about the same as a Honda.........Bill S

Yeah, except for vessel registrations where the 2 character prefix occassionally doesn't follow the US postal designation. MS=Mass vessel, MI=Mississippi vessel...FWIW.

Good information to have. I thought all states and commonwealth's would be on the same page as far as abbreviations. My apologies to High Life.
