Bon and I are getting ready to swap out out near 40 year old oil burner setup for one of the newer more efficient ones. We have a few heat specialists up here and I am looking for ideas.

First and foremost........Do you have natural gas on your street????? If not I will suggest the most efficient units..

We are talking forced warm air........YES?? ........Ed

There is street gas but we may not be able to hook up due to a moratorium, our system is base board hot water.

Typed a 15 min reply, then had to re-sign in and lost everything:shocking:

Boiler....Burnham or Weil McLain...both top of the line..

Burner...Beckett NX series best bang for the buck..

If your water heater is electric..both boilers have an add on option for domestic hot water.. Add heat exchanger and storage tank.. Burnham have the tanks for sure...Ed

P.S. Natural Gas is 1/2 the price,cleaner,safer,cheaper.....Ed

We were at diner with several friends and compared bills, it ran about the same for both. Long Island is a real expensive place to live KeySpan rapes us on gas & electric. I really like gas it is more effeciant and clean then oil, I will contact KeySpan and see if it is available.

penbroke; Residential, not industrial. 35% fewer fires caused by gas fired appliances.. Oil plugs chimneys faster, residue builds up faster in oil chambers

Mop. When was the last time your tank was inspected??
In Canada (Ontario) your house is not insured and no oil delivery to your house unless the tank is inspected and approved..

Initial cost of gas appliance over oil is 50% cheaper

Oil is 140m btuh per gal
Natural gas is 100m btuh per equal volume
Hi eff oil 85 to 86 % efficient
Hi eff gas 85 to 98 % " ...........................Ed

Ed gas is vert attractive, KeySpan will give you the burner if you switch from oil. I have been looking into a Buderous unit a bit pricy but supposedly the best money can buy.
