Hello ,

I removed the QQ exhaust due to the engine and running straight exhaust is anyone using mufflers that clamp on to the tips or the turn down pipes and had good results. Any suggestions or types to get. I like the rumble put need to quite it down some it's to loud going thru the harbo:happy_bi:r.

Jeff I have Gil clamp ons they do a nice job but in your case with the big block they may choke you down. They may be fine for cruising not sure. With my 383 I see little to no loss in power, I only use them while flushing and on special occasions Bonnie & I love the noise!

I've got a set of these and IMHO they are a waste of money if you have any cam at all. I can't handle the slapping noise when they slam shut on every other power pulse. They didn't quiet it much either

The current "hot ticket" are the CMI passive silencers, quiet in the harbor and open when you need it with no power loss.

Ran my Shotguns on my twin turbo Criterion.. Sounds like someone did not have enough pre tension going on. Mine don't open up until 3,000 r.p.m. Ed

It's possible but I had a pretty radical, experimental cam in the motor and the exhaust pulse was a lot more violent than any turbo application would be. It wasn't the volume of exhaust, it was the violent on and off pulsing that caused problems.

I only played with them for a month or so then threw them in the back of the tool box when we went with full pipes on the KEPP headers. I think I still have them in a box of parts somewhere.

I use clamp on switchable CMI the new self opening are the neat thing. the shot guns don't work for me. There are only a few that do work on performance motors.

Really didn't want to blow a grand on the C.M.I.'s but if they are quieter than my shotguns then I will concede to mjw930 & Big Grizz.........Randy still need s prop this year.....Ed

Bonnie says you are full of something! She likes loud and fast, that is why she mouch's rides in boats that are quicker than mine!
