Scott, I got my raw water pump back on but on the pump are two little brass and plastic fittings where the air hoses from the winterizing air pump go. The hoses are held into the fittings with tiny plastic clips. They are about 1/2" long. One is orange and one is white. The orange one is slightly bigger diameter. I broke them both! Do you have some? I'll buy the whole fittings if need be. Pleeeese help.:banghead::bonk::hangum: '05 22C 496 HO boat serial# DNAC2009I405 Engine# 0W06740

Our local dealers suck. Last time I tried them they did not even have the fuel filter or spark plugs. Still I will try them but won't have time until monday or tuesday. I bought over 4,000 used CDs last week-end and they all have to be sorted, cleaned and priced . I don't care about the cost, I just don't think I can find the parts at our local incompetent Mercury dealers. If you could post a part # it would be a help. I'll send a small donation to this site with-in a couple months. It's the least I can do for the help I've gotten from you and others here recently.

Carl,

Poodle is right, on the small parts even the most aggressive parts supplier isn't going to be able to overcome the shipping costs. I use the lookups on sites like Crowley and BAM to get the part numbers then call around locally to see who might have it in stock. Saves me lots of gas and headache.

mjw, I don't care about the cost, the problem is that the dealers around here stink. And you guys think car dealers are bad.:doh:RedDog, YES!, and thanks. I will contact them tomorrow. I'm really busy this week getting things ready for the week-end flea market. MP, do you have 22-863068 and 22-863024 in stock?

I e-mailed Bam Marine (RedDog's link) about availability and ordering info. I sure hope someone has these stupid little parts.:crossfing:

E-mail from Bam Marine: "Carl, not in stock. Sorry we do not take phone orders for small parts, only engines & drives, etc.":garfield: Great, now my motor is down for lack of 2 stupid 5 cent clips for which I'd gladly pay much more.:garfield:

:confused::confused: Sorry, I don't see what is confusing? I will see if a local dealer can order the parts next week. If not, I'll plug the holes.

Scott, if you could get them for me it would be huge. The dealers around here are so incompetent that they can't even get my fuel filter or spark plugs. I don't care about the cost. If not, thanks for your help anyway. I know you're busy to be messing with little stuff like this. Spring is in the air and real soon it will warm up quick and the ice will be gone. I need the boat to be ready one way or another.

Yes those are the right parts and #s. That is definately an identical pic of my pump. You don't know how much I appreciate your help on this. RedDog, thanks for your help also. The pics you posted were close to my set-up but not identical. I figured the fittings were the same. MP has come up with the correct #s. Now the parts just need to be found! I wonder where hose #9 goes? Mine had no hose attached to that fitting.

Give these guys a try:
http://www.marinepowerservice.com/BoatingStore/lookup_parts_mercyear2.cfm/coll_style/04/pickModel/496%20HO/pickDrive/0W060000%20THRU%200W309999/pickyear/1998/index_nbr/11415/block_nbr/210/modNum/4T42028N1/Doc_Part_nbr/881784002.cfm

They show the following parts in stock.

• 10 22-865288
FITTING, Gray (90 Degree) , Gray $4.39 2 in stock
• 10 22-865289
FITTING, Orange (90 Degree), Orange $8.74 2 in stock

That hose #9 is listed as a 42" black air hose. That should feed back to the manifold you plug the air pump into to activate the water drain.

At that price I ordered both of each in case I beak one putting it together. I still can't see where that hose goes but will look better when I climb in there to change the fittings.:):):)

"Reasonable" price, grab em IF your local dealer doesnt have them in stock. My experiance has shown these to be a fairly common maintenance item, call you dealer with the P/N's and ask em.. MP, mucho thanks for taking the time to help a member with this nickel and dime stuff. I didn't bother with the local dealers because they are always rude and incompetent.:thewave::thewave:

Buiz, looks like the problem is solved!:crossfing:

Speaking of parts....
Anyone have decals for a 1976 X-18??? I'm going to wet sand the hull this spring and want to replace the old ones w/ the proper style. Thanks. (Saw some on ebay but they looked like caca.

You need to start a new thread under "parts wanted" so everyone will see it. Chances are someone will be able to help you. Good luck.

Carl,

Glad you got it sorted out. I hate it when I have a project stall because of missing parts.......

Thanks much for the advice...looked in the classifieds and found that Jamie at Lakeside supplies a bunch of the members w/ decals. Good luck w/ the seawater pump.

I got my fittings today. The plastic clip inserts are spring loaded and apparently you push them in to release or insert the plastic hose. Stupid me, I put pliers on them and tried to pull the clips out breaking them both. This thread led me to some good mail order sources for mercruiser parts which is good since our local dealers are douchebags. I'll put it together tomorrow.:crossfing:

Push the collar down, insert hose until it bottoms out, release collar and then pull the hose to seat it in the fitting... I'm finally done with this fiasco! I had to take the pump back off most of the way to get to the fittings. I pushed in and pulled the hoses like you said, Scott. I also found the missing small black hose hanging loose and put it on with a zip-tie. I serviced the batteries while I was in there.:propeller:
