I'm debating what to do about my fuel system after I take the boat out of storage later this month. I probably have 30 gal I left in the 50 gal tank. I treated it with Stabil(not the Ethanol blend) and filled the fuel filter with 2 cycle oil. Started it and let it sit since October.
Now my question is how do I get everything ready for summer. I'm kinda concerned about the old fuel sitting in there over winter. Should I syphon it out, change filter and be done with it. Or just top it off and add one of the fuel treatments to remove water. I thought about upgrading to a racor instead of the $8 Quicksilver filter.
I'd rather syphon and dispose of the old fuel, its not worth causing problems for $100 worth of fuel.

top it offf with hi-test and then run it out. Just don't run hard.

The fuel will be fine. Just don't run the boat really hard until you get some fresh in there because you have probably lost a little octane. That's what I do anyway. edit: I wasn't copying RedDog's answer; his went up at the same time!
