I just bought a set of factory bucket covers and bottoms. how hard are they to install or is it better to have apolstery company do it ? and I'm going to at least replace the bottoms ( plywood ) is there anything else on the market that is better ??

Ted,

I thought the 22 seates were taller than the 18 seats. In fact, I'm 99% sure they are (making them different). I've seen 22 seats in an 18 and while they fit, they don't look right IMO. THey stick up out of the ****pit.

Below is a picture showing (from left to right) a bucket for 16's/18's, Hornet, and 22 Classic/Minx. After building 300+ buckets I can tell you it isn't that hard to do. Re-upholstering a bucket? It's kind of like rebuilding an engine, anybody can do it, put it together the reverse way you took it apart and have the right tools.

There is one rule to follow: don't put in more staples than you are willing to remove.

Use 1/2" Starboard XL in place of plywood.
