You're telling me! Hate to see her go but the the new boat has arrived and I only have one slip. Although it is very tempting to drop the ZR in the water for a week or two while the new boat (sailboat) is being prep'd.

Had a lot of interest at the old price so the new price should result in a sale!

How fast have you had this boat up to. I am kicking around about selling my 22ZX and up grading to a bigger boat.:boat:

The boat will run an easy 72mph (gps), with around 1/2 tank of fuel and passengers. I think with a little prop tuning 75mph could be possible as the boat easily jumps up to speed with the current prop.

We had stepped up from a 22zx (procharged 454) when we bought this boat. The overall ride difference is incredible. The blown 22 may have been faster in a straight line but the 27 rides better, handles like its on rails, and you can run much higher speeds in rough water and still be comfortable. We originally looked into a few bolt ons to bring the speed into the 80mph range (stuff like raylar and cmi's). Ultimately we decided that we were happy with the boat in stock form.

The best illustration of the 22zx vs 27zr difference came for me on the first ride. We took delivery of the boat in Toms River, NJ with Frank C. He and Melissa said that they would run the boat south to Ocean City, NJ with us as the "Demo" ride. When we left the dock there was a 20-30mph wind that had whipped the bay into 4ft seas. I asked Frank if we should reconsider the long ride down worried that we were about to get beaten up for 2 hours... He laughed and said to just get the boat up on plane, keep it over 40mph, and we'll be fine. Sure enough the ride was smooth all the way home even through the thunderstorm that we hit (and decided to outrun). It was and will be one of the most memorable powerboat days ever.

Sorry for the long explanation!

Wow... wish it was next year already. I just paid off my 22zx and want to have a summer with no boat payment. But I really want to step up to the 27zr. How would you compare the gas consumption between the 27 and 22? I realize you were using more on your 22 since mine is just stock, but would you figure maybe 10-15 gph cruising at 50?

As you mentioned, we used a lot less gas in the 27 than the blown 22. But I'd expect that you would see similar consumption to your 22 depending on which engine you have. Your 10-15gph seems about right. Last season I'd usually only put 20-25gal in at a time at the pump since it would more than cover running around for the afternoon. (the tank holds 90gal) We'd put more in if we were headed out for a longer run.
