Any idea where buddy Don (MUGGS) can find a toque tab
for one of these 1974 outdrives?

After losing his S/S prop and pushing some string behind me
last summer, he needs a new tab.

Tim did he have the plain tab or the one with the exhaust flapper?

winter is getting to MOP the 280 does not have the flapper the exhaust was intergrated into the anti cavitation plate if it has the flapper it is a 270 or earlier martyr mades a few that might fit depending on the prop size i think they are in Canada

Tim did he have the plain tab or the one with the exhaust flapper?

Here's what Don says:

It is a plain tap that bolts on the outdrive just behind the propeller. Can you pass this on to him as my corporate machine will not let me do it?

Thanks

What a (snow) flake you are Jack.
But I guess you might know some stuff.

Could this be what he seeks, found in this link? (http://www.ebasicpower.com/p/GLM23110/GLM23110.html)

You could just replace that lost prop with one of the Solas props that Big Grizzly gets and the tab becomes unnecessary on 280 leg.

Hmm I was sure he had a 250 or 270 on that old 18, didn't know if he still had the sweet potato tab or a fin with the through transom exhaust. When did he get a 280 for it??

280 does not have the flapper the exhaust was intergrated into the anti cavitation plate if it has the flapper it is a 270. Incorrect, the through cav plate did have a flapper but I was not talking about that.

Check part #8 http://216.37.204.206/Shorts/Volvo_oem/Volvo.asp?Type=13&A=7&B=176

If it is the one Tony is showing I may be able to grab a new out of my old shop, let me know I will give them a call.

not sure what I am inccorecct about here

in regards to the torque tab
the 250-270 used the flapper/ tab combo as the exhaust exit was where the tab was and was circular if not using the exhaust port you could use a fin but it would have to have a circular base wide enough to cover the exhaust hole
the 280-290 just had a fin with NO FLAPPER( like the one pictured by Tony) the exhaust was in the back of the anti cav plate that's where the flapper was like an old pair of underpants I am sure you oldtimers are familiar with :p

so did he ever figure out what drive he has????
the say that memory is the first thing to go
