Activity at lake could be regulated
Associated Press
KEEGO HARBOR - Keego Harbor and the state Department of Natural Resources are considering whether to regulate a popular Cass Lake sandbar that regularly draws summertime crowds.
The Detroit Free Press reports the regulation plan could be a model for other lakes in the state.
There already are ordinances that prohibit drunken boating and other bad behavior, such as urinating off boats.
But the newspaper says there are no rules that restrict the number of boats anchoring in the area.
Last summer, The Oakland Press of Pontiac reported complaints about drunken visitors that helped lead officials to look at ideas for the sandbar.
