Sister got divorced & sold boat (wife daughter and I had fun borrowing it). Were thinking about buying a one this season. Pro's and con's of Z25 or Z29. Would mainly use on lake erie. Saw a few on traderonline under 30K we liked. What should we look for in a used one and what's a decent price?
thanks

You should get up with joel3078! He has a great 25 Black Widow. It is a great deal and might be just what you are looking for!

Kieth if I could blow ya a kiss I would.:shocking: I'll email ya a beer instead.

Black widow is a 24 foot. The Z25 is the hull the black widow is based off of. Yes mine is still for sale. It's now listed through a broker. However, anyone can buy directly from me for a much cheaper price. There was another guy on this forum that came out to take a look at it a couple months ago His email is mike@BC4X4.com if you want to get a second opinion. Mike bought a 27 or 29 foot boat. Don't remember which one - wife wanted a bigger cuddy area and they had funds for a more expensive boat.

Speaking of funds, Keith, is your brother going in on the ZX project or did you win the lottery. I can only imagine your fine neighbor is still an issue.

Anyway, here is a link to my boat for sale.

Joel's boat is very nice. Also another nice z-24 for sale in Rochestor MN in the Boat trader. Not a Black Widow like Joel's though. Both boats show very nice. Both are similar but there we a few differances between the years. Color scheme was similar but a little different. They also had different windshields.

The z-29 is alot more boat. Twice the motor's, outdrives, and not that much more space in the c***pit. Lots more room down below though. They are very nice but quite a bit larger than either the 24, 25, or 27' boats.

You should consider a 25,26, or 27zx as well.

Really need to decide what size works best for you and start looking around. We just spent the last few months doing the same thing. We ending up settling on Big Green ZX's 27zx. The size worked best for what we wanted to do. Nice combination of size in the cuddy and roomy c***pit. Plus the one motor and outdrive was a better choice for us.

Here's our dillema.
I'm 6'6
wife's 5'8
would we be able to sleep in a Z 25 or Z 29 (with our 9yr old daughter with us)?
Whats the layout like?
What kind of utilities do the boats have (stove, fridge ect.)
We both realize that some comfort & utilities would be sacraficed for performance.
thanks

Z25 has no "utilities" Just a v berth up front and two seats. No sink or head. It would be cramped for you and your wife but doable. Not going to fit the 3 of you though.

Z29, if I recall correctly, has a sink, head and refer. Still not sure you are going to sleep 3 in it though.
