Saw this on Boat Trader and am wondering if it is the real deal. I'm not old enough to remember all the early days stuff...

Its a 71 or 72 F18. These seem to be the last of the F. JR hull. Made using an altered old JR hull mold and new deck mold. If he measured it, he should find it to be 17, 3 inches in length. Very few were build and came in two configurations. This one and a walk-through Bowrider. They seem to have been some sort of small project with in Formula before the Walters line of completely new run-abouts.

There appears to have never been an ad campaign for them.
At least I've never found any printed lit.

Boat JUST got here in Augusta, GA at 6:30 pm Jan. 16, 2008. At EXACTLY the same time it started snowing (first time we have had snow in years).

Stay tuned.........

Pic from last night and I will start new thread after I get a chance to look it over.

Get a load of those fiberglass trailer fenders, they are nearly 3 feet long....

For a grand how can you go wrong, the Merc 200 may be worth redoing it was a decent motor.

Phil, the Merc 200 is either a 79 or 80. It has power trim/tilt. Would it have oil injection??

Boat came from an estate. Has a 1999 tag on it and the battery is still in it :eek!:

Motor may just have sat, nobody knows, when I start looking at it will keep posted. Somebody tried to extend transom upwards that is what is rotted but the rest of the transom seems ok.

Tommy I am 99% sure that was an oil mix engine, kinda wish it was closer I would like to look at it. If it is in decent shape I would grab it, a little glass work don't scare me!

The more I look at that hull I think it is the same hull that I had, mine had a 165 Mercruiser I-6 it was a run about version bright YELLOW!

The outboard F17 is turning out to be a gem at least so far, motor is 1979 not an oil injection. Engine turns over, no spark on 3 coils; bought 6 coils, 3 carb kits, fuel pump kit, water pump kit, lower seal kit, about $200 bucks in Sierra and GLM parts and should be ok.

No water in lower unit, will change seals anyway.

Transom seems fine, the part they built up is rotted but it does not support engine, probably just to prevent backwash from too-large-of-engine-syndrome.

Two fairly new Todd buckets up front, I think this interior layout was the back-to-back folding lounge seats originally. Solid floor under carpet, each gas tank aluminum, will clean them out, one thing about oil mixed with gas pickles both motors and tanks.

Trim/tilt works but noisy and slow will check fluid level.

I'll post more pics later, this is one of those "secondary projects" right now.

Hope to take this to Classic Raceboat Regatta this spring in Tavares, FL.
