I am shopping for an H2 for a tow vehicle. will be doing.
I will be buying used 2004 or older. I am trying to keep the purchase price below 24k.
What options should I shop for?

Any suggestions from anyone?
(besides don't buy it, crappy mileage etc...)

Anyone have a line on a clean one??

They are wholesalers and might be able to find what you want. They had one a couple of weeks ago. These are absolutely wonderful people. I have known them for over 14 years, bought several cars from them, and they are distributors for the detail chemicals I sell.
Tell'em Don Doss sent ya.

Drove one for a week when I was considering one.
Not the greenest option in the world. Guess if we were all concerned about that, we would not have performance boats either. The picture I see is a group of balding middle age men with hybrid cars and sailboats.:boat:
OK, I went to far. I loved the Hummer, only drawback was blindspots, blindspots, blindspots.

I had a 2007 H2 for a day. We were driving kids from the MD Anderson Cancer center over the obstacle course. We then took the kids in a police escorted procession of about 30 hummers to Space Center Houston fro the afternoon. It drove great, had lots of power, was very comfortable. The back seat is roomy as well.

On a side note I drove the H3 alpha (V8 version). It was alot of fun, BUT had no inside room.

I really don't care about the gas mileage. I will have my current car that gets 31mpg on the highway and 22 in town.

Hell my Expedition only gets 13-14

I drive Maybe 20 miles a day. I will use it to pull my 22 to the ramp and back. Wrse case scenarion will be cumberland, Lake George, or Lake Winni. I can always cash in my 401K if I need to for gas.

As far as the green thing is concerned you have to read that "Dust to Dust" study :eek!: good stuff there:)

We have 2. 1 2006 & 1 2007.. We love them, the fuel consumption is not that different from any other big suv. I feel that they tow quite well, except that a diesel option would have been nice. I think they actually pull better t han my 05 Duramax HD truck that I had leased, just without as much torque.. As far as the ride & stability when pulling it I am willing to sacrifice the loss in torque over the diesel.. I also had a 2004 H2 which I really lied as well..

My only gripe is I wish that they would have the spare mouned in a fashion that allows it to be raised a little higher for when hitching onto bigger stuff, but I have figured that one out so it is nt a biggie anymore.. The pre mid 05's had the spare mounted inside standard..

Scot, when you find the right one pull the trigger I give em 2 thumbs up.. :D

I've been dealing with computer Issues the last few days..Trying to update Video Drivers, NOT Working: I'm no computer Guru. So I'm not sure if my post last night on this subject got posted....or not.

No offence to those who think differently, but this is just my opinion. :nilly:

There is only ONE Hummer, and that's the H1. .... The one our troops ride around in every day, AND was available in the early days to civilans. Not sure if it's still available. John

:smash:Scott...I think the H2 is a totally cool ride...I looked at one a little while back...now I do alot of driving... but as an alternate.... you might wanna consider a Suburban, the power ranges are pretty wide and even the 5.3 pulls our 22 fine especially in Tow / Haul mode.

Practical draw backs to the Hummer are Tire wear due to drive line, the tires are spendy, mileage is questionable as you know...but in my book not a true limiting factor. If you want to own it and keep it...then go for it. If you plan to unload in in 5 years or so... then a Sub would be a better option.... they really hold their value.

The base chassis on the Hummer is based on a Tahoe format. I personally felt the low cut glass was the biggest factor in the blind spot area. The Roof line inside was quite short or low, and I am not tall...so that is saying something.

Currently their are a few DuraMax Subs as conversions in the market place... now thats a ride. Brad has one and it kicks ass. The ride is tremendous and has twice as much interior Cargo Room.

If you are "IN LOVE " with a Hummer, than buy one. There is no substitute for passion in anything in life...so go for it.

I have over 280,500 miles on my 2002 Z-71 Suburban and it still rocks...I am likely going to repower it and rebuild it and just keep it as another alternate Car for us.... but it Tows very well and has been a phenomenol experience. As my first GM product... its been great.

My next Tow Vehicle is gonna be an Oil Burner... but I have to be able to keep up with Brad, Norm, Allard, Pearson, Cliff, Buizilla and Poodle and Rooster Man.

Good Luck
